I was on my honeymoon to Spain last month. Yingmei and I visited Madrid, Toledo, and Barcelona.
On our third in Barcelona, we took a day trip to Figueres to Salvador Dali’s Museum.
It was my favorite place in the whole Spain trip.
As we all know, Dali was a quirky, weird, kooky person. A genius.
But what I didn’t know is that he is very hardworking.
He does his work, his art, everyday. He learns new things everyday. And he lets people know who he gets inspiration from. Who he steals ideas from. He is naked with his art. And he was a writer too.
He wrote and published a novel, Hidden Faces and a biography The Secret Life of Salvador Dali.
I shall leave you with some of his quotes.
Don’t bother about being modern. Unfortunately it is the one thing that, whatever you do, you cannot avoid
Those who do not want to imitate anything, produce nothing
I do not paint a portrait to look like the subject, rather does the person grow to look like his portrait
There is only one difference between a madman and me. The madman thinks he is sane. I know I am mad
